Metropolitan Ministries’ Homeless and Prevention Services



Tampa, Florida-based entrepreneur Jonathan “Jon” Yob is the recipient of various honors for his work in business, including an EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Jonathan Yob is also a philanthropist who directs the Yob Family Foundation in supporting a variety of nonprofits focused on education, science, and the physical and emotional well-being of individuals, families, and communities.

Among such organizations is the Metropolitan Ministries, one of Tampa Bay’s providers of services for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. With assistance from community partners, it supplies hot meals and shelter to people in need. The nonprofit serves more than 1.5 million meals and helps over 19,000 families each year.

Additionally, Metropolitan Ministries offers parenting classes, life-skills training, and initiatives such as its Metro BrigAIDe, a mobile outreach team that drives out to meet people and connect them with social services and other resources in person. Additionally, the organization’s Family Support Centers provide legal counseling, educational programs, assistance with paying bills and rent, and other services to help prevent families from falling into the cycle of homelessness.
